ZooED Project Based Learning 4-5

Manage the [Animal] is being replaced with ZooED Project Based Learning for 4th and 5th grade. This curriculum is a group-based project. While teachers guide students through the tasks, students work in teams to learn about different zoo careers, develop conservation messaging, build a zoo habitat model, create a souvenir item, and more! This curriculum is best for teachers who are interested in challenging their students to use critical thinking, collaboration and complete a project over the span of several days.

What's Changed?

New animals, careers and digital content!

New Resources! Teachers will be provided with an updated teacher guide and resource materials for their class. (Note: Any teachers that have used Manage the [Animal] in the past will be asked to keep their IUCN banner for use in this new project).

Updated information and activities. This project now features additional careers with new activities to match. The math activity has been updated to reflect real diet information. All activites are aligned with state standards.

Will I need to attend a training? If you have trained in Manage the [Animal], you do not need to attend a training for the new PBL 4 - 5 curriculum. You are always welcome to come to a training to discuss these updates.

When will this available? ZooED project based learning for grades 4-5, will available in fall 2026. ​
